Child Welfare Education & Supports
Child Welfare Education & Supports (CWEL)
The Family Resource Center serves as the Child Welfare Education Liaison (CWEL) for the Roaring Fork School District. In this role, we advocate for students in foster care by ensuring they have educational stability, access to needed services, and caring adult support. We coordinate with schools, caseworkers, and families to remove barriers, enabling foster youth to focus on learning and achieving their full potential.
McKinney-Vento Supports
The Family Resource Center also serves as the district’s McKinney-Vento Liaison, providing support for students and families experiencing housing instability or homelessness. Our Family Liaisons make sure students stay enrolled in school, receive transportation and meals, and connect with critical resources. These supports are designed to reduce barriers and ensure every student has a consistent, supportive path to success.
This reflects our commitment to equity: every child, regardless of their socioeconomic background or circumstances, deserves stability, opportunity, and a welcoming school community.
