One Card: your student ID is your library card

One Card: Your Student ID As A Library Card!

A partnership between: Roaring Fork Schools, Garfield County Public Libraries & Basalt Regional Library

The Roaring Fork Schools is partnering with our local public libraries to make it easier for every student to access books, digital resources, and other learning opportunities. Through the One Card Program, RFSD students can use their student ID as a public library card with the Garfield County Libraries and Basalt Regional Library.

Public libraries offer far more than books: they provide free access to technology, educational tools, and spaces to learn and explore. The One Card program aims to remove barriers by eliminating a separate library card application and giving students easy access to free learning resources.

Information for Parents and Guardians

    How it Works

The One Card Program is designed to make public library resources more accessible to all RFSD students.

    How It Works

    1. RFSD students are automatically enrolled in One Card unless a parent or guardian opts out.
    2. Students can use their ID cards at the library in place of a library card.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for determining which library materials are appropriate for their children. Participating public libraries maintain their own collections, borrowing policies, privacy practices, and rules regarding access to materials.

To establish and maintain student library accounts, RFSD provides participating libraries with limited student information: student name, email, person ID number, school, and grade.

    Opt-Out Process

Parents or guardians who do not want their child to participate may opt out by completing the Directory Information opt-out form (hard copies are also available in school offices). Opting out means the student cannot use their student ID as a public library card. The opt-out will remain in effect unless updated

    Program Launch

The One Card Program will officially launch on Monday, November 2. Beginning that day, participating students can use their Student ID to access resources at participating public libraries. Families who do not want their student to participate when the program launches should opt out by Friday, October 16.
